Today, October 23rd, the Birmingham Public Library hosted 28 Leeds High School Advanced Placement History Students along with their Teacher - Christina Allen, Assistant Teacher - Erika Lindsey, members of the Leeds Trails and Tours Committee - Ken Nelms, Susan Nelms and Randy Ray in the, Southern History Department and Archives in the Linn-Henley Research Library along with the Social Sciences Department to research information about Leeds in 1940. This is preparation for the April 2024 walk, including the development of interview questions for Leeds area residents that had a connection to Leeds in 1940. This information will also be used for the re-enactors that will help the walkers to experience 1940 Leeds. The research will also be used to document the history of the buildings in downtown Leeds.
